Oakville Transit to add more service on key routes starting September 6, 2026

Oakville Transit customers will soon enjoy more frequent service on several key routes, making travel faster and more convenient.

Oakville Transit service changes as of September 6 include:

Route change to Route 1 – Trafalgar: will provide customers increased access to Downtown Oakville via Kerr Street while maintaining frequency the route currently provides.
Route change to Route 14/14A – Lakeshore West: reintroduces coverage along Reynolds Street and connects the Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre and the Oakville Public Library – Central Branch to the transit network; with increased service coverage along Lakeshore Road West.
Route Change to Route 37 – Glenorchy: additional service area coverage will connect to King’s Christian Collegiate for specific school bell time trips and allow students to utilize transit for their daily commute.
Introduction of Route 80 – new School Special Route to Holy Trinity CSS: will connect students residing in North Oakville to Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary.
Palermo West/Bronte Creek Ride On-Demand (ROD) zone – new hub addition: Highway 407/Bronte Road Park & Ride will be added as a destination hub for this ROD zone. This will mark the final addition needed to connect to every GO bus operating in Oakville.

These service changes reflect feedback gathered through the Annual Service Planning process and align with the implementation of initiatives outlined in Oakville Transit’s Five-Year Business Plan, approved by Council in October 2024. The plan provides a roadmap to guide transit service planning from 2025 to 2029, supporting Council’s vision for a vibrant and livable community for all.
As recommended in the plan, the upcoming service changes are building the foundation for the future Frequent Transit Network (FTN) along higher order transit corridors, such as Dundas Street and Trafalgar Road, having more frequent service at 15 minutes or better. The future FTN will increase service frequency to support growth and changing needs of the community, while increasing ridership.
