Public Information Centre #2 - Oakville Transit Bus Garage Construction

Following Town of Oakville Council approval in principle of the 2007 Transit Facilities Strategy, the Town has retained Giffels Associates Limited / IBI Group to prepare the Oakville Transit Bus Garage Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design.
This strategy identifies a need to acquire a new site and construct a new single facility that provides all essential functions including administration, operations, maintenance and storage. The preferred new location is at 430 Wyecroft Road in the Town's central industrial area south of the QEW. The ability to maintain existing service quality is being compromised and there is no opportunity for further growth of transit services at the current location.
The 2007 Transit Facility Strategy emphasises the need to commence the design and construction of the facility subject to budget approval. Funding has now been allocated by Town Council for land acquisition, project planning and design. The Town must complete an environmental assessment for transit projects before constructing the planned facility.
The purpose of this second public information centre is to present the preferred site and floor plan of the proposed transit facility detailing administrative, operational, maintenance and storage functions.
Any environmental impacts of this planned facility expansion on the study area are being assessed in the environmental assessment in accordance with the transit project assessment process required by Ontario Regulation 231/08.
