Notice of Study Completion - Oakville Transit Facility Construction

Oakville Transit Facility Construction
Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design

Acknowledgement - Oakville Transit Bus Garage Statement of Completion (pdf, 278 kB)

The Town of Oakville has completed an Environmental Project Report in accordance with Ontario Regulation 231/08 for the new Oakville Transit Facility Construction Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design.

Following Town Council approval in principle of the 2007 Transit Facilities Strategy, the town retained Giffels Associates Limited / IBI Group to prepare the new Oakville Transit Facility Environmental Assessment and Preliminary Design. This strategy identifies a need to acquire a new site and construct a new single facility that provides all essential functions including administration, operations, maintenance and storage. The preferred new location is at 430 Wyecroft Road in the town's central industrial area south of the QEW. The ability to maintain existing service quality is being compromised and there is no opportunity for further growth of transit services at the current location.

The environmental impact of this transit project was assessed and an Environmental Project Report prepared according to the transit project assessment process as prescribed in Ontario Regulation 231/08, Transit Projects and Greater Toronto Transportation Authority Undertakings.

A project file report has been prepared and is available from the table below and at the following locations for a 30-day review period (until September 21, 2009):
